Geoffrey Miller is a foremost artist of West Coast Country & Western music, with an original song catalogue steeped in the sounds of Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Dwight Yoakam, as well as Ray Price and George Jones. Miller has released two albums, All Night Honky Tonk Man and Leavin’ 101, which have reached the top of the Alt Country chart for radio play. Coming from a musical family and a Northern California music scene where brushing elbows with the likes Bud Duncan (Rose Maddox), Bobby Black (Commander Cody), Biff Adam, Doug Colosio, and Jimmy Bauchman (Merle Haggard’s Strangers) is commonplace, Miller was preordained to be a country artist. Wielding a Parsons-White B-bender-equipped Fender Telecaster, and with a sandy baritone voice, Miller delivers a unique and regional take on an unmistakably classic sound. Family history and personal stories are channeled into danceable shuffles, fast train beats, and crooning ballads of Miller’s original songs, while select interpretations of country favorites please audiences and convey a deep connection to a musical heritage.
Miller’s debut album All Night Honky Tonk Man (2020) is the incarnation of personal truth rooted in the living lore of Americana country music. Years of playing guitar and singing in honky tonk bars, the discovery of lost musical heritage, and a true-life world of heartaches, wine and neon funnel into the album’s 12 original honky tonk and rockabilly numbers. Country Music People Magazine gave the album 5 out of 5 stars and Miller the title “Honky Tonker of the Month” in December 2020, as well as ranking the album #6 on the top ten albums of 2020! The album ranked among the top spots of the Alt Country Specialty Chart for radio play between February and June 2021, hitting #1 the week of March 10, 2021.
Miller’s latest release, Leavin’ 101 (2022), is rooted even more deeply in the Bakersfield Sound he grew up on. “Fans of hardcore Bakersfield sounds will delight in Miller’s latest”, wrote Country Music People Magazine, giving the album 4.5 out of 5 stars! Lonesome Highway commented in review of the album, "There is little doubt that anyone with an affection for [what] the Bakersfield sound has come to mean...will recognize Miller as a frontrunner in delivering it..” Leavin 101’ has been welcomed by Americana radio as well as critics, charting in the top 10 of the Alt Country Chart from February to April 2022, and reaching #2 the week of February 23, 2022.
The albums features performances from industry heavies, including Scott Joss (Dwight Yoakam, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson) on fiddle, Travis Toy (Rascal Flats) on steel guitar, Max Hart (Melissa Etheridge, Katy Perry) on steel guitar, and Zack Sapunor (Hot Club of Cowtown, Wayne Hancock) on bass. The album is mixed and mastered by vintage country and rockabilly recording artist Deke Dickerson at Ecco-Fonic Studio.
